You sighed, staring at the doors in front of you.
Nervous.
What are people going to say?
What am I talking about?
When you were born, you were born disabled. One of your arms had not developed at all. Doctors were worried, your parents were worried, everyone was worried.
You found other things children found easy difficult. You couldn't climb, you couldn't get dressed on your own, and you learned how to walk later than usual, seeing as you couldn't crawl properly in the first place.
However, your parents soon started to realize that you were actually a lot 'brighter'. Seeing as you couldn't do most things on your own, you soon started to come up with ways to do them differently, and that fit your style.
You became so smart, you designed a blueprint for a metal arm when you were 7. It took you a few years to get it right, but you got there in the end. Seeing as the non stop flooding of insults from other kids, mostly being the word 'freak', you had a lot of time on your hands. Or, should I say, hand.
You also found out about a character called the Winter Soldier. He was a lot like you, but his story is different. He lost his arm during the war, and it was the same arm as you. So when you saw him and how he had a metal arm, it inspired you to make your own.
By the age of 10, you had made your arm fully operational. Children were suddenly taken aback, even teachers who didn't treat you with the same respect as the other 'normal' kids.
You graduated high school, and managed to get into the University.
And here you are now, at the age of 14.
Taking deep breaths, you managed to gain enough confidence.
Here we go.
You moved your left arm - your metal one - to grab the door. Your cold fingers firmly grasped (see what i did there) the handle, and you slowly pulled the door open.
"Hi! Welcome to STIF!" You jumped at the sound of the cheerful voice. A woman stood in front of you, with sparkling apple green eyes, large pink glasses, and wavy blonde hair. "I'm Honey Lemon, and you'll be working in the same lab as me!"
"Uh, hi...I'm (Name)." You spoke shyly. She took your hand in hers and dragged you to the lab.
~~~~~Time Skip~~~~~
Okay, you weren't expecting this.
You expected it to be like high school: sitting at desks, listening to a boring teacher ramble on, not having any fun.
This was the opposite.
You could work on whatever you want, take breaks whenever, come in whenever you wanted to after school hours.
And the lab was big.
There was so many ideas forming in your head the second you entered. It was like heaven.
"This is the lab! Hey guys, the new student is here~!" Honey's excited voice chimed. You were glad you were wearing a hoodie; no one had seen your metal arm yet.
"Hey." A person dressed as a...lizard?
"Woah!" You jumped, holding your hands up to your chest in defense. The lizard laughed.
"Don't worry, its just me." He pulled off the top of his head to reveal it was a person in a costume. "I'm Fred. By day, I am a mascot, by night...I am still a mascot."
You smiled. "I'm (Name)."
A girl zoomed past on a bike. She slowed it down to a stop, and pulled off her helmet. She was chewing gum, blowing large bubbles with it every so often.
"Hey. I'm Gogo Tomago." She stated.
"Hi." You said, starting to notice just how many people there were...that would...see your arm...and make fun of it-
"Hey, Wasabi, get over here, you're missing out!" Fred called out.
"I spill wasabi on my shirt one time..." He muttered as he walked over. He smiled when he saw you. "Hey! Great to see a new face!"
"Hi. I'm (Name)."
"It's a bit hot in here, you sure you don't want to take that hoodie off?" Honey asked sweetly. You gulped nervously.
"Yeah, well, about that..." You trailed off, noticing how many eyes were looking at you.
"What? Is it that metal hand you have?" Fred pointed at it. You clenched you fist.
"Y-Yes." You said. "Just...let me show you."
You puleld your hoodie over your head, showing you Winter Soldier shirt, to match your metal arm. Everyone's eyes widened.
"I was born missing my left arm, so...I built one myself." You internally braced yourself for the insults, the word 'freak' leaving someone's lips.
"You based this on the Winter Soldier?" Fred asked, noticing you shirt and red star you painted on your arm.
"Yeah, I did." You said slowly, eyes widening.
"That's one of the coolest things I've seen!" He said, fist-pumping the air. Your face broke out into a giddy smile.
"That's pretty cool. When did you make it?" Gogo asked, staring at your arm.
"I designed the final product when I was 7, I finally finished building it when I was 10. Having only one arm slows you down." You explained.
"Impressive." She said with a tiny smile.
"You know who would like this? Hiro." Wasabi said to you. You raised an eyebrow.
"Hiro? Who's that?"
"He started here a few months ago. I'm sure he's be glad to meet you." Honey explained. "I'll go tell him."
She dashed off to find him, leaving you alone with the others.
"So how did you find school? Being so much smarter than everyone else, obviously. Not your arm." Fred asked.
"Well, it was nothing but my arm. I got insults left, right and center, being called a freak, and got no respect from teachers because i was slower at doing things than others." You said, frowning as the voices appeared in your head.
"That's not cool."
"Yeah, don't listen to them! You are who you are." Wasabi said, nudging your shoulder playfully. You giggled.
"You're all being too nice." You said through your giggles.
"(Name)! I want you to meet Hiro Hamada." Honey said, walking with a boy who looked about your age. He had dark brown eyes, and raven black hair that stuck up in different directions. Your cheeks tinted pink when you first saw him, he was a little cute.
"(Name) here has been disabled most of her life, so she invented a metal arm." Honey said. Hiro stared at your arm. He was actually quite impressed, but you thought he was thinking the same as anyone your age: freak.
"Uh, Hiro, maybe you would like to show (Name) your lab?" Wasabi suggested, noticing how you were becoming uncomfortable under his gaze.
"Huh? Oh, sure. Uh...follow me." He said, turning quick on his heel and walking quickly to his lab. You brushed a few strands of hair out of your eyes, and followed him. He walked straight into his lab without even acknowledging you. Quietly, you shut the door behind you.
Hiro turned to face you, still glancing at your arm. You were starting to reach breaking point: it was starting to annoy you.
"...So..." He said, balancing on the balls of his feet.
"...You think I'm a freak, don't you?" You said, folding your arms over your chest. He looked at you directly in the eyes. "W-What?"
"Everyone thinks I'm a freak. They always have, always will. I'm not surprised if you-"
"I don't think you're a freak."
Your eyes widened. "Huh...?"
"I don't think your a freak. I think that the fact you made yourself an arm is awesome. It's pretty amazing. Even though you were born different, you still managed to pull through it. You're brave, and...who ever called you a freak?"
"Everyone at school. Even the teachers." You said shyly, looking down at the ground.
You felt the shuffling of feet, and two arms gingerly wrap themselves around you. You looked to realize Hiro was hugging you. Some cute boy you had just met was hugging you?? Oh my gosh.
You tightly wrapped your arms around him, burying your face into his shoulder. He stiffened at the touch, but soon relaxed.
"I promise you, you're not a freak. I'll stay by you...even though we've just met." He said with a laugh.
You laughed into his shoulder. "Yeah, I'll try to remember that."
Nervous.
Motorcycle Ride {Hiro Hamada x Reader}
“A-Are you sure about this?! This doesn't look very safe.” You whimpered softly, wrapping your arms around Hiro's waist tightly, burying your face into the back of his shoulder blades anxiously. You had never ridden a motorcycle before, and it always made you nervous when Hiro got ready to ride home to his aunt's cafe. Of course, Hiro teased you nonstop about it, but he always promised to wear his helmet and always said he'd call you when he got to his destination. This made you feel a tad bit better, but the fear you felt never went away when you saw his figure ride off.
Hiro turned his head to look at you, a small smirk lightin
"See you later, I'm going out!" Hiro called out before leaving the room, "Whoa whoa whoa! Where do you think you're going?" Tadashi pulled Hiro back by the collar, "Ack, out ok? I'm going out" Hiro pulled his shirt back.
"Out where?" "Out there" "Look, I don't like it when you go to bot-fights, but I allow it, but recently you've been going out a lot!" Tadashi raised his eyebrow, "Look I'm not going to a bot-fight ok? I'm going now, I'm running late" and Hiro ran out the door.
Tadashi shook his head watching his brother from the window then continued his finishing touches. Hiro readjust
Hiro Hamada X Reader: Our Childish Ways.
"TAKE THAT AND THAT!" Hiro exclaimed as he pressed the buttons on the controller.
He was extremely focused on the game that he didn't even notice [Y/n] standing right beside him, munching on cookies Aunt Cass had given her. She watched as he sat right in front of the T.V. Her eyes filled with captivation of the multicolored game he was playing.
"What a nerd," She teased him.
She sat on the carpet, with gentle eyes still on Hiro, attempting to get his attention. She crunches the snack as hard as she could. The sound startled Hiro as he threw his controller up in the air and quickly turned to [Y/n] with wide eyes.
Anyway, since I've been asking for ideas from you lovelies, this was suggested by HarukaSea that 'the reader enrolls into San Fransokyo University a year after Hiro and has a robotic arm/leg they made them self'
so i added some thoughts and that the reader was really inspired by the Winter Soldier, who, to put simply, is bae. well, one of them anyway.
so i hope you enjoyed~~~~ feel free to give me any ideas!!!!!!! i'm running low on them srsly
I do not own any of the characters or Big Hero 6. The Big Hero 6 characters belong to Disney and Marvel.
